Beyond the Tipping Point
Racism, elitism, bigotry, born on your mother’s knee
or the surrogate thereof,
Fine tuned by fathers and their surrogates,
the powers that be.
Illusions of freedom, controlled by the wealthy and
religion, guilt-ing, rationalizing, the gullible, the faithful,
into acting against their own best interests,
in the interests of those who own us all.
—-
But ownership is only an idea, a word,
the definition of which can be overturned,
rewritten, re-defined.
How can any finite entity “own” something, anything,
that is more or less “eternal,”
at least by our short, finite existences?
Ownership is an illusion, but extinction is real,
and guess what?
Extinction and we are on a collision course.
—-
Nor all your tears, fears, repentance, or
begging will change the inevitable,
death, annihilation, ending…
for you and me, for everyone you know,
for everyone who ever lived, for all
still to be born, either by their natural
end, or by astrophysical inevitabilities.
The end is nigh, at least for humanity.
—-
And you don’t need to look to the sky,
any mirror will do.
