Where Are You When We Need You, Lamont? 5 of 7

The December 9, 1980 entry in my journal reads:

“John Lennon was killed last night. His death has taken the spotlight away from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria, for the time being at least. There have been several news specials about his passing, and candlelight vigils are being held this evening, here and around the world. The airwaves have been filled with his music all day. Possibly with his passing goes an age. When I first heard the report of his murder this morning on the six AM news, I was stunned, then sad, then angry; now, just sad. Life isn’t always fair, at least it doesn’t seem to be. Having to forfeit your life at the whim of someone else (sane or not) hardly seems fair, does it?”

Well John, as long as you’re remembered, you live on, so I’m told. Maybe you’ve earned immortality.
