For What It’s Worth – The Hut Lounge
Something’s happening here
Buffalo Springfield on the jukebox
Linda Lane slayed us with her
intricate guitar work and
sensuous vocals
What it is ain’t exactly clear
Her band – Lady and the Tramps
George Hoka on his Hammond
mesmerizing sound like the Animals
voice soulful like Burdon’s
There’s a man with a gun over there
Ted and I compete for Janie’s
attention danced with me
danced with Ted but only
had eyes for George
Telling me I got to beware
She crushed on him
he used her as he would
and she kept going back
interest in me merely bemused
I think it’s time we stop
her dependable ride
wait outside
take her home
maybe see ya around
Children, what’s that sound
maybe next time we
can party wherever
Lady and the Tramps
is playing
Everybody look what’s going down

An autobiographical poem…I like it! You don’t see many of those so detailed.
