The Education of Billy, Bill, or Liam (me) – Memoir Continued

School was always hard for me. I never wanted to go in the first place. That lasted until I was in high school, when I would endure almost anything to be away from the house, away from the drama and sibling rivalry, which Dad constantly stoked and encouraged. Just wanted to be with other kids my own age… plus hoping to find a girlfriend; never had much luck in HS. That had to wait until I was older. More about all that later.

After a not so great first grade experience at Edison Elementary School in Elyria, we moved to an old farmhouse in Sheffield Township on East River Road. It ajoined a family farm, who’s owner was our landlord. I went to Tennyson Elementary for second grade… another disappointing performance on my part. Oh well… from first grade on, I was a daydreamer, constantly staring out the windows, adventures in my head, not paying attention… I had no real interest. I was also somewhat dyslexic (though that went undiagnosed until my HS years). Chris (brother) was born during this time and Jacqui (sister) shortly thereafter (the next year).
