A couple of my old ones from the mid-eighties.
Green Serene
The color green is so serene
Brings to mind a summer day
Resting in the shade of
Your favorite tree
Be it oak or elm
Or any kind you happen to see
Reclining in cool grasses
Watching golden rays
Turn the canopy luminous
The filtered light an emerald haze
That lulls me fast to sleep
In sweet green serene

Dreams in Shades of Blue and Red
Trees made blue in silhouette
Before a crimson sun
Reflections caught in a silver lake
With daylight on the run
A blue boat with red sail
It runs before the wind
Broken lines of silver clouds
All tipped with blue and red
Like flocks of gulls on the wing
They soar into the dark
And soon will come the sandman
His bag of sleep to spread
He’ll give us many silvered dreams
All tipped with blue and red
Sun and trees and silver clouds
Move peacefully through my head

Thanks, Kat! Yes, I was at peace when I wrote them. But as you’ll see in the memoir, such ‘peace’ is generally short-lived…; -)
