My Tech-writing Job Ends
Shortly after my return from Grammy’s funeral, they started laying off people at work. It became evident that my days were numbered, too. So, I offered to resign if they would continue to use me as a contractor. There were still a couple of manuals that needed to be done. I finished them off as a contractor. When I left, the company hired a truck and moved my office furniture (desk, computer, lights, etc) to our home on Glenwood in Little Italy. So, now both Anne and I were working from our joint home office… which had been our dining room.
My new position as a contractor wasn’t bringing in the money we were used to or that we needed to run our household. I did several things to bring in more money. I worked for a short time as a taxi driver. I was also teaching Statistical Process Control (SPC) classes two nights a week at one of the local trade schools. Along with that, I was also substitute teaching in the Cleveland Public Schools.
