Struts on by
Along pavement
Shoulder
Scrub by the wash
Scoping out insects
And seeds not
Deigning to fly

Missing the large-
Winged silhouette
High in the sky
Shadow gliding by
Path and Scrub
Rapidly increasing
Size with the
Predator’s plunge

Bobble-head pigeon
Gone
