Santa Catalinas
Santa Catalinas
under a cerulean sky
sharp shadows define
vertical and diagonal
ridges and cutaways
the stark, austere
northern boundary of
the Tucson basin
painted in pinks and grays
the long rays of sunset
then disappear
ghosts in the dark
idling over the sleeping
countryside long before
humanity thrived
and will remain
long after we’re gone
