Cailtin Graduates from Emily Carr University Of Art And Design 2018
For Caitlin’s graduation, I took AmTrak from Ashland, KY, where I was living at the time, to Seattle, WA, then a bus from Seattle to Vancouver, BC. The trip from Ashland took 3 days, with a 5 hour stopover in Chicago to change trains, then on to Seattle. There was a 3 hour stopover in Seattle before the bus to Vancouver. I walked to a nearby restaurant and had a light lunch while I waited.
Caitlin met me at the bus station in Vancouver and helped me get to the youth hostel I had booked for my 5-day stay. We made arrangements to meet the next morning at a tea-house she liked in town. The rest of the family hadn’t arrived yet, but were expected later that day or the next. They all flew into Vancouver, even Ian. Kristen wasn’t able to attend.
After meeting Caitlin the next day, she showed me around town and took me out to see where she worked and around her favorite areas nearby.
Her Senior Show was well received by all. I met a couple of her friends and viewed their portions of the show as well. Again, my pictures of her walking across the stage at her graduation weren’t very good. But I think her mom got better ones.
The trip home was less than I had hoped. After several side-rail delays, we arrived in Chicago 2 hours after my connecting train to Ashland had already left the station. In compensation, they put me up in a sleeper car on a train parked in the terminal. Then gave me a bus ticket for the rest of my trip home. The trip from Chicago to Ashland took us about 8 hours with several stops, including Cincinnati.
