mainstream and
social media sites bleed
murder larceny and
violence of every stripe
government leaders, the
worst confidence-men
this side of prison gates

brunt of
our conditioning
authoritarians convincing us
of our super vulnerability
need security forces
at their beck
and call

must spend
limited resources
to eliminate crime
the security myth the
excuse of all tyrants
but damn little for social-
economic equity

stop the daily
news social media
clickbait algorithms
poisoning minds
doom-scrolling
into helpless anxiety
and depression

giving up your
so-called freedoms your
common sense the
common good a more
perfect union for the
authoritarian myth
of security

Yes, this is a repeat. But I think it’s timely, considering our political season and the ruling class’s desire and need to control the narrative to maintain the status quo.
