The Move to Tucson 2019
After we got back to Ashland, we spent some time thinking about what a move would entail. Tina decided to sell her house to finance one in Tucson. We hadn’t looked at any while we were there, so we decided to rent for a few months or even a year until we found something we could afford and make our home.
The Ashland house sold two weeks after Tina put it on the market. We had 30 days to vacate. So, an estate sale was arranged with a private estate-sale company. It was held the weekend after we left for Tucson. Our friends Josie and Dave M. monitored the sale for us. Whatever didn’t sell in the sale was taken by the estate-sale company as part of their cut, as compensation for arranging and holding the sale.
So, in mid-March, I rented a 30’ U-Haul and a car dolly. Dave, Josie, and her daugher’s boyfriend helped us load the truck. After the loading, we had a farewell dinner with our helpers. Then we slept, woke up early, and left by 6 AM, with our car pulled along behind us on the dolly. Che road in the truck cab with us and Ming (our rescue Siamese cat) rode in a large dog crate in the car’s back seat.
We made most of the same stops as we had on our previous trip in October.
