The Loop – The Tucson Side
two days after a record
monsoon rainfall
the Santa Cruz was still
fairly full and rapidly flowing
to the Gila, more than
60 miles north of Tucson
a blue-gray cloudy day
with Sol poking rays through
in intricate, ladder-like patterns
backed by verdant greens
dried-grass tans and yellow-capped
Brittlebush side-glance gleams
the breeze was brisk and
refreshing, while the
atmosphere hung heavy
at every stop, a wet
blanket, smothering
energy leaching, confining
just another morning ride
on the Loop, the Tucson side

PS: It was the most water I’ve seen in the Santa Cruz River in the five years I’ve been watching it…
