End Of My Wage-slavery
After that, I did a short stint at Mactac in Stowe, OH. working as an administrative assistant. That lasted for about a year before they laid me off. As was becoming all too common, just another company restructuring and downsizing.
My last Tech-writing job was at Phillips Medical in Cleveland. It was another temp agency assignment. I don’t remember how much they paid, but it was in the neighborhood of $12.50/hr. I retired from there on January 31, 2009, and started living on Social Security the following month. I was only 62, so had to wait for 3 more years to get Medicare. And no, I hadn’t had any healthcare since being laid off from Kinetico in ‘98.
That was the end of my wage-slave career. It’s been Social Security since then. And no, I’ve never felt any urge to re-enter the WS Treadmill… in case you were wondering.
