This is from early in 2023. I’d just finished a larger acrylic abstract winter landscape…
Laying-on Paint
background music
to start – sonatas for
violin and guitar
canvas prepared
rough draft of
vision laid down
paints on palate
essential colors
mixed and ready
brush-tip drips color
laid on canvas and
shapes are rendered
with patient strokes
or dabbed and scraped
with palette knife bold
music changes as
sessions fly by
painting completed
in many winks of
the eye – studied
this playful vision
rendered with personal
flourishes and gestures
signed sealed delivered
then start again
in meditation
laying-on paint

The creation and delivery of the painting sounds like a joyous process.
