conquering and conjuring

religious incantations
rule by ‘divine right’
butchers blessed by
clerics’ sanctions

it’s happening again
for the last half-century
till who knows when
book bannings and burnings

another world empire
in decline, ending,
yours and mine
as authoritarians and

clerics and oligarchs
seize governments and
resources worldwide
for profits’ sake

the New Dark Ages
now marching into the
annals of history and
destiny
