An oldy, but a goody… Some lable this (and me) cynical or pessimistic. Really? Have you looked around recently? How would you interpret our current ‘reality’?

Are we rain;
are we sane–ish
working with ageless energy,
planning to live forever,
life full of regrets and sorrows,
hoping for resurrection

— or —

at least reincarnation

— or —

forever with all our evil friends
in brimstone hellfire climes,
dissipating in smoke, breathed on
overcast, smoggy days in any
fossil fuel-powered factory or man-
ufacturing town in any hemisphere,
North, South, East, or West,
breathed out into interstellar spaces,
absorbed in passing quantum strings
only to find ourselves
here and now —
cosmic jokes, cheap laughs in the cheap seats?
