Cool April Morning Ride

a cool April morning with
a few puffy-white clouds
above the surrounding mountains
while the sky above is
a translucent blue

explosions of yellow blooms
draping various trees and bushes
in the mazes edging both sides
of the Tucson Loop
even in the dry riverbed

early Brittlebush
already gone blousy
while the yellow explosions
of Palo Verde are still
a few weeks away

with them comes the bulk
of the Spring pollen
guess I’ll need my old Covid mask
till the monsoon season
commences in June
