Who’s to Blame?

leaders
policy makers
pointing fingers
blaming anything
and everything
never looking
in the mirror

illegal to be poor
in the richest
country to have
ever existed

of course
the poor
are to blame
while the rich
are even richer
than the ancient
pharaohs

and as empires decline
as all empires do
the rich and
powerful
maintain their
positions at
the expense
of everyone
else

isn’t it time to
abandon empire
as an economic
system
try something more
humane ?
