Contentment

as a youth
I thought the world
held a grudge
against me
thought it was
singling me out

eventually truth
dawned on me
it’s the common
experience of life
for any and all
born into it

discovered that one
has little choice on
how ‘life’ treats us
except on how
we perceive it
and how we react

even with the
socalled ‘wisdom’
of age upon us
multitudes of hardships
and joys continue
to bathe and sate us

acceptance is contentment
