Summer’s Early Raid

summer’s early raid
continues as temps soar
with blindingly
blue skies

thank human ingenuity
for polarized lenses
mitigating headaches
from the harsh glare

off the windows and walls
of me casa and yours
from highway liquid-looking blacktop
melting into the horizon

to a mirage of water
on a scorched
and wind-blown
desert floor

while faint wisps of white
far out over the western
mountains gives an illusion
of curvature to the sky above

though shadows on the path
usually remind me of barcoding
the shadows of many trees rather
remind me of the QR variety

all in a effort to locate our precise
position in this quantum reality
we affectionately refer to
as ‘life’…
