From Behind The Facade

I occasionally feel duplicitous
peering out through
the windows of my facade
studying it in the mirror

should one feel duplicitous
when we all cultivate one
over our lifetime
societies demand it

must submit to social ‘norms’
regardless of internal truths
that may or may not be
supported in ours

do we, can we ever
truly know ourselves
the essence behind
our two soul-windows

those who claim to be
facade-less display the best
rendered and polished
facade of all

what does one with
no facade look/act like
could we bear to witness it
or hide behind our own

facade
