First Loop Ride In May
Bright clear cerulean sky
Sol’s long morning rays
Dapple shadows the whole way
To El Camino del Cerro
‘The road to nowhere’
Most of the way
The dry riverbed exudes
Lush verdant trees
Who’s roots must run
To the river below
Gone subterranean
A century ago
Sadly
Homeless camps
In the riverbed
Have exploded exponentially
Since we moved here
A short few years ago
As the ruling classes
Pit us against each other
With austerity for the masses
And socialism for the
Ruling classes
Pains in our collective asses
No one talks about the cures
Societies that allow billionaires
Are corrupt and sick to the core
In need of a basic minimum income
Universal healthcare and rent controls
And ‘50s era taxes in the 90% range
On big businesses and the rapacious wealthy

PS: Sorry, got a little carried away seeing and thinking about the explosion of homeless camps in the dry riverbed, the malevolent intent of our owners…
