Oh, wow – June 2025

Wow!

We’re getting awfully defensive, aren’t we? Apparently, we’ve been preoccupied with the peripheral issues that separate the two sides of the same coin, earned them their distinctions of heads and tails, red and blue, as if there are no other options, no other ‘coins’… perhaps a little tipsy with the red/blue koolaid haze, just as our owners envisioned, allowing them to carry on ‘business as usual’.

I’m not saying ‘peripheral’ issues are not important. What I am saying is that if we can somehow fix or resolve the bulk of the things the duopoly agree on, which are antithetical to us (and ‘they’ won’t fix them, being against their vested interests), then the issues we care most about, which are ‘peripheral’ to many people, will go a long way toward taking care of themselves.

For example, universal healthcare would go a very long way toward fixing the crisis of medical debt, the biggest cause of bankruptcy with our aging population, along with more economic equity doing the same by fixing the main issues that drive many to guns and violence, fear of hunger, fear of losing their homes, fear of not having an income, fear of some ‘other’ taking their jobs or their earned benefits (socalled entitlements), fear, fear, fear, etc, etc (the establishment’s propaganda mantra (and yes, the current ‘establishment’ too, which includes and abets the militarized ‘security state’)…. So, if economic issues of the working class were resolved, it would go a very long way toward resolving most societal problems. As the old political slogan repeatedly said, “It’s the economy, stupid”.

Yes, there IS a bigger picture to deal with, which is NOT predominantly ‘red’ or ‘blue’. It’s the existential problem of human life on planet Earth. And our duopoly will do exactly nothing to ameliorate the existential issues facing us; they never have, they never will, despite the lip service of some. If you want to continue drinking the koolaid, be my guest. But please quit rationalizing it to those of us who have quit the drunken red/blue binge. It’s yourself, you must convince… Good luck with that!…
