A Late June Thursday Morning Ride
Blue skies to the south
While the blue of the north
Is marbled with white and the
Occasional brushstroke-tip
Of light gray
Rust colored mountains
Veiled in the morning mists
Boundaries of the Tucson basin
While fat skinks and prairie dogs
Skitter to and fro across the path
No snakes or other fauna yet
But for the occasional pigeon
Bobbling here and there
Finally heading home
For a tangerine popsicle
And a mellow … nap
