End of June Weekend – Morning Ride
79 degrees
At a quarter to seven
In the AM
90 by the time
We get back
Bright sun
No clouds
Except a few dots
Over the mountains
Skinks scurrying in
And across the path
Right and left
Zigzagging
As a turkey vulture
Surveys the pickin’s
From the highest branch
Of a dead old witch-tree
Off to my far right
I count 8 porta potties
Along the fenced-in
Silent construction site of the
New apartment complex
Rising from the once
Large farmers market site
But from the number of
Workers I’ve seen laboring there
Over the last couple of years
One would suffice
Oh well
Finally home to a
Strawberry popsicle
And a short nap
