This may be difficult for true beleivers in soul-mated, true love to read. The divorce rate for first marriages in the US is 40-50%. Not an encouraging statistic for those who believe in romantic and ‘true love’. The universe doesn’t suffer fools gently… But then, it’s only my humble opinion, based on the experiences of a lifetime…

To see love as
Romantic and true
Wishful thinking
At best
Delusional the rest

But based on what?
Hormones and pheromones
Seem temporary
At best

But what about
True love
Soul-mated
Forever love
Till the end of
Time?
Pretty stories
Fantasies and
Mythology
For the young
And gullible

Fool me once
Shame on you
Fool me twice…
Yes, I’ve been fooled
And the second time
The worst
Only a real fool
Would ‘fall’ thrice

Longed-for partnership
Easily dissolved
When a ‘committed’
Love (ostensibly)
Changes her mind
No hesitation
No real discussion
Just the end

Emphasizes the
Power of hormones
Pheromones and
The mythology of
Romantic love

True love can
Only be
Empathy
Sympathy
And the desire
To see one’s
Paramore
Achieve the
Height of her
Potentials and
Desires

Even if the
Loving one
Is not
Included in
The play’s final
Scenes

Love romantic
Usually temporary
Love true
Has no end
As long as the one
Who loves
Continues
One-sided

Any exceptions
Found only
