Mid July Morning Ride On The Tucson Loop

Mid July Morning Ride

But first
Had to take care of
Last Friday’s flat
Rear tire half
Off the rim
Dragged it the last mile
Home, its ass-end
In the air
Off the rim

Success

The sky is
Cloudless and
Light cerulean

Eastern and southern
Mountains but Silhouettes
Veiled in misty-blue
While the Tucson’s
Dragon teeth ridges
Glint in morning’s sun

Skinks skittle helter skelter
Too many places
Along the path
Some paused
In anticipation
And barely avoid
A nearly de-tailing
Encounter

Brittlebush in bloom again
After last week’s
Thunderstorms
That left a large pool
Under the Congress Street
Bridge

Not many riders out
Too hot even in
Mid-morning
Arms and legs
Pinking over my
Darkening skin

As we glide home
Back to the AC
And popsicles
And no flats
This time out
A lucky day
