Mid July Morning Ride
But first
Had to take care of
Last Friday’s flat
Rear tire half
Off the rim
Dragged it the last mile
Home, its ass-end
In the air
Off the rim
Success
The sky is
Cloudless and
Light cerulean
Eastern and southern
Mountains but Silhouettes
Veiled in misty-blue
While the Tucson’s
Dragon teeth ridges
Glint in morning’s sun
Skinks skittle helter skelter
Too many places
Along the path
Some paused
In anticipation
And barely avoid
A nearly de-tailing
Encounter
Brittlebush in bloom again
After last week’s
Thunderstorms
That left a large pool
Under the Congress Street
Bridge
Not many riders out
Too hot even in
Mid-morning
Arms and legs
Pinking over my
Darkening skin
As we glide home
Back to the AC
And popsicles
And no flats
This time out
A lucky day
