Tucson, My Newest Home

What do you love about where you live?

I’ve lived along the north coasts of Ohio and Michigan and on the southern shore of the Ohio River in northern Kentucky. I’ve been living in Tucson, Arizona, for the last 6 years. Each of my previous homes had its positive and negative attributes. My hope is that my migrations are finally at an end… Don’t want to move again.

I love the warm winters and low humidity. In the north, it was common to wake up on a winter morning to 3-4′ of snow that had to be shoveled before I could leave for work – having to scrape the ice off my windshield if I stopped anywhere for more than a few minutes.

Love the creative environment, from the university to art galleries and coffeehouses with poetry readings and artistic gatherings, the multiple culturs (Indigenous, Mexican, South American, Asian, African, and European – cuisines and festivals – they’re all here).

Love the ring of mountains with elevations up to 9000′, while the elevation of Tucson is 2000′ above sea-level. Love the Saguaro National Forest surrounding us and the Santa Cruz (underground) River, traveling beneath the riverbed through the center of the city.

Love the Tucson Loop for riding and walking… My whole experience here has been inspirational.
