The Milkyway

pathway in the sky
from our small corner
out on the periphery
to its center and beyond
horizontally
but can’t see the
other side
probably not even
to the center

perpendicularly
and tangentially
at a multitude
of angles

other galaxies
distant luminous
pinpricks in
the sparkling tapestry
of the night sky

but only if
Luna or other
astronomical
fireworks
like comets and
artificial satellites
don’t steal our
attention and
imagination

that is
as long as
light pollution
permits our
nocturnal
sky-show
