Maximum Efficiency – Judo

Maximum Efficiency – Judo

A concept common to
Eastern martial arts
One I first learned in
Judo classes from the start

Maximum efficiency
Use of energy
Motion and momentum
Large results with
Minimum efforts
Also applying the physics
Of levers and fulcrums

Another principle is:
Aside from class wars
One’s only true enemy
Is one’s self
Not your opponent
Across the mat or
In the street

One must defeat one’s self
To achieve anything
Worth fighting for
To achieve any satisfying
Results

With maximum efficiency

PS: I used Judo as the example here because that is where I was first introduced to these ideas. I found over my many years of training and teaching that the principles apply across the spectrum of eastern martial arts.

Unfortunately, all of them are so caught up in authoritarian, hierarchical, and political BS, that I’m no longer involved or affiliated with any of them. Once you understand the basic principles of movement and energy-flow, you’re free to create your own workout disciplines, katas and such, as long as you stick to the basic principles.

I’ve created my own ‘katas’ with combinations of techniques from Judo, Aikido, and Tai Chi … any one with enough experience can do the same, creating your own unique training and fighting style. Oh, I know, blasphemy; shame on me! Ask me if I care…; -)
