Colors Before My Eyes

Colors Before My Eyes

Purples and greens
Roll up before my
Closed eyes
Along with scenes

From my idiotic
Romantic
Sometimes pedantic
Forgotten memories

Too many times
Smashed out of me
By brass-knuckled
Reality

Only remembered
In quiet times
With my ancient
Eyes closed

  1. Your words resonate with me…memories. Just this morning, I was sitting on the patio, drinking cappuccino, and thinking about all my wonderful beach memories with my friend(s).
I love your painting. Looks like we were both thinking birds and water today.
I’ve experimented with acrylics, but can’t seem to get the hang of the medium. Yet, I still give it a try from time to time, and throw away the catastrophic results. 😊

    • Thanks, Kate! I’m pleased you like them. Your artistry resonates with me as well, both words and paintings. I find acrylics a little more difficult than watercolors. Keeping them wet and blendable is harder than straight watercolors. But what I like is that I can water them down and use them similarly to watercolors, or I can use them thick with pallet knives or brushes and produce more three dimentional pieces even without perspective. I’m starting to play with them on surfaces like wood and metal instead of canvas; but nothing I’m willing to display yet…; -)
