Soundtracks Of My Life

Soundtracks Of My Life

the earliest I can remember
Everly brothers dream, dream, dream
off and on even through high school :  https://youtu.be/tbU3zdAgiX8?si=7TpLPosTQu2HwdAC

1967 enthralled by Clapton and Cream’s
Born Under A Bad Sign till the ‘80s
if it wasn’t for bad luck, there’d be no luck at all :  https://youtu.be/f1pzXJuvdAY?si=vPfaLpupxBE1jfNC

then, in the ‘90s, Jonny Lang’s
Wander This World … all alone …
they take it and don’t say a word :  https://youtu.be/yN1XfSi3RNI?si=LoZxFd1nRCXobjBU

since then, The Lucky One
by Alison Krauss, my background music
in my mind, a song about me

I’d say you’re lucky
‘cause I know what you’ve done…
a jack of all trades, a master of none…

and laugh at the devil
as his train goes by …
you’re the lucky one …

to you the next best thing
to playin’ and winnin’
is playin’ and losin’ … :  https://youtu.be/VszDBuO7LiU?si=PWXEVvTQdC8cqqsV

you’re the lucky  one
the soundtracks of my life
fond in my memories

slipping them on and off
like a sweaty headband
or favorite shirts

today, I’m feeling serene
and calm, for I am
the lucky one …

PS: There have been many other tunes included in my life’s soundtracks, but these are the ones that my mind and spirit have marinated in the most through my trials and tribulations…; -)

  1. All good songs. I hadn’t heard “Wander This World“ before, and liked it.
The song that has stayed with me since my teenage years, resonates with me, and has been the favorite of my life’s soundtrack is Simon and Garfunkel’s “I Am a Rock”. Number two is Leonard Cohen’s “Closing Time”. I think a lot of people just skim its surface when listening, not realizing the song is about the end of all things.
