  1. Your painting puts me in mind of a cat I had long ago named Midnight. He had those beautiful yellow eyes,
and longish hair like silk. He liked to curl around the top of my head in bed. He brought me a few presents over the years, one a live bird that got away from him when he brought it in the house. 😊

    • Interesting… I call this one Midnight, too. He’s feral; showed up here about a year ago. We feed him and 3 others that he brought in to share the food and water we put out for them. We did catch them all and had them wormed, given shots, and fixed so there’d be no more. We made a container home just outside the back door. They all cram into it on chilly nights. They let us know in no uncertain terms when it’s breakfast time… right around sunrise…; -)

      • When my husband and I married in 2000, I brought with me two strictly inside cats that I’d had spayed and neutered years before. About a year later, a feral cat had two kittens under our outdoor storage building. We managed to catch them one by one and take them to the vet, all girls, to be spayed and get their shots. These three cats wouldn’t come inside, but always came up to be petted when me or my husband was outside, but ran from anyone else. We built them winter protection as well.
All five are long gone now, but I miss them all. I love cats, but with my husband using a walker and being on oxygen 24/7, it isn’t feasible to adopt any at this point in my life. And I’d always had one or two (or three or four) since I was a child. Maybe someday…

      • We were raised with cats and dogs. My mom was a cat person and my dad dogs, and claimed to hate cats… but ours always snuggled on him while watching TV… Currently, we’ve go 2 parakeets and a Chihuahua mix, so indoor cats are out for now… Even though I’ve lived with both for larger portions of my life, I prefer cats…; -)

      • I also have lived around both cats and dogs. When I was a child, my dad always had a few hound dogs, and we also had cats. My first husband had hunting dogs—that were also our pets—that stayed outdoors, and a few cats that were allowed to come and go as they pleased in the house. He liked cats and dogs equally, and though dogs were okay, I was, and still am, a cat person.
