1. It seems to me that in most cases, our lives aren’t extended, but our deaths. I’ve seen so many propped up by drugs and “treatments” suffer for years, their quality of life greatly diminished, before finally passing on. In most of these cases, it’s a relief to those people to at long last, find final peace.

   • Thanks for reading and commenting, Kate! You’re exactly right. That’s where the profit is, in an elongated, infinitely prolonged decline and death. There’s very little profit in cures, in eliminating sickness. No, the real, relatively healthy ‘life-extention’ will be reserved for the richest psychopaths among us, why I refer to it as ‘gambits’…

     • I’ve read a few dystopian novels where that is exactly what happens—thanks to medical advances, the rich live long, healthy lives while the rest of society suffers and dies young. And I agree with your statement regarding there being no profit in cures. So doctors hand out pills that we can never get off of instead of getting to the root cause of a problem. I have been in that particular situation for years.

     • Not much we can do. They’ll have to decide what kind of country/world they want and fix it. We sure as hell didn’t do a very good job.
