Shadow Of Time
Time casts its shadow
over every surface
nook and cranny of
body and mind
Shrouds all life
In chaos and strife
But sometimes in
companionable
warmth
lets friends and
lovers thrive
for a time
A deceptive wink
against the harshness
of the future’s
too bright light
while looking back
to distill truth from
the hidden
dark places
the past always hides
Time’s shadows
mix in the mind
corrupting analysis
certainty and even
recent memories
Eventually produce
for those who survive
that length of tooth
that signal one’s
relinquished youth
And for some
only one tooth
remains
While some
artificially exude
plastic features and
augmentations
Try hiding the truth in
the shadow of time

An insightful poem that deeply resonates with this old soul. π
And I love your drawling/watercolor. Do you mind if I save it, Liam?

Thank you, it is now on my phone. π
I shall use it as a wallpaper.

My middle son liked what he called, the minimalist use of color on the otherwise high contrast ink…; -)

I do as well, Liam.
I need to learn how to do this. What supplies did you use?

I’m glad to help if I can… First, I took a picture with my phone, the subject is in my front yard. Then I took my watercolor sketchbook and very lightly sketched it out the pertinent image, leaving out most of the background, with a very hard pencil HH (I think – but that isn’t really important, only that the sketching is light enough to be easily covered). Then I went over it with Micron pens of different widths, both black and gray. then finished it off by adding the watercolors in dabs … first, a couple of different shades of yellow, then orange, and finally, reds (2 different shades)… Hope this helps…; -)

Very much so. I’ve never used micro pens. I’ll look them up on Amazon

You can get Micron pens at Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, and most artist supply stores. Good inking…; -)
