October Thursday Morning Ride
Sol’s rays barcoded the path
with shadows from trees
guardrails and bridges
sky-dome uninterrupted blue
save a few white brushstokes
over the southern peaks
last weeks rains left
lush green brush and trees
crowding the riverbed
still water lingered under the
Congress St. bridge
and a few other puddles did
while four-wheeler tracks
tortured the ground
between brush and trees
came across one cottontail
and a ginger cat came
out of nowhere
a couple of bike-groups
rolled by in a hurry to
who knows where
there were dog-walkers
hikers and joggers too
enjoying the outside
this October moning
cool and dry
as the Loop I ride
