Halloween Eve
ghosts and witches
hung from porches
fences and trees
along the barrio streets
they greeted our
morning ride
pristine blue above
and north
a slight canopy over
the southeastern peaks
a bit of smog in
the northeast
a few walkers and riders
dotted the path
their eyes glazed
their ear buds engaged
one nearly walked
into me as I slid by
the riverbed lush and green
mostly dry around
the shrubbery
with a few patches of
still water and damp mud
still plenty of Brittlebush
waved us on by
as the temperature
continued to climb
into the high 70s
by the end of the ride
