Minimalism
the lessons of my life
learned over years of
more or less
unrelenting strife
point to conclusions
many won’t or
don’t like
less is more
and all too often
more is less
sounds contradictory
I know
it took me most of
a lifetime to digest
the simpler a motion
say, in self-defense
the more likely it
meets with success
the less clutter (things)
one has accumulated
you know…
toys, tools, utensils
magazines, motorcycles
yachts, furniture, and ‘art’
the more time one has
not consumed with
cleaning, care, and
curation of our ‘stuff’
the same applies to
our mental and
emotional houses
the minimalist approach
works in the same way
that’s why
philosophically
to ease my mind
I lean to Zen and
Taoist precepts
they leave the mind
uncluttered
baggage discarded
more room for
creativity and
dare I say it…
play
yes
minimalism
all the way
