Between the Storms Morning Ride

Between the Storms Morning Ride

Rolled out under
A marbled sky
Heavy clouds brooding
Eager to dump loads
And cry, cry, cry

Sun popped through
From time to time
Lightening my mood
So I didn’t brood

As the receding
Floodwaters from
Last night’s storms
Languidly amble
Northward to the Gila
And beyond

No fauna out today
But a few fat pigeons
Bobble-heading their way
Next to the path
Ready to play
Or fly away

Had to ford sluggish waters
Three to four inches deep
Moving toward the riverbed
At a low point, heading north

Made it home before
The sky burst into the rains
Forecast for the rest
Of the day
So they claim…

The actual ‘rest of the day’

Forcaster’s model broken
Its murky crystal ball
Apparently ‘off’ again
As those heavy clouds
Floated away
With no more rain
What can I say…

PS: El Tour de Tucson was held on Saturday. Congratulations to the winners and all those who participated. The men’s and women’s first place winners were both from Tucson, mere minuets apart at the finish…; -)
