Dream Within A Dream

Hubris abounds
We understand the universe
The gibberish of clowns
Glaring through their
Topsy-tervy frowns

Life slaps my unsuspecting face
As each and every morning
Its complexity is unfolding

Perceptions ephemeral
As each day makes it plain
Conceit of understanding
Is fundamentally insane

Have to question what’s real

Is anything, or

All just a dream
Within a dream
Within a dream

The more I ‘know’
The more I know that
I don’t

As I lay … dreaming
