I wrote this awhile ago, but in light of recent history, it feels more appropriate than ever.

Brain-numbing Mendacity

utter mendacity
up is down
down is up
in is out and
out is in

you going to believe
your own eyes and ears
listen to your own feelings
or what our owners and
their lickspittles tell you

victims are the predators
the predators are the prey
politicians only want what’s
good for you, not wealth
and power, no way

a rising tide raises all ships
drowning the poor, exalting the rich
cut taxes on the rich, incentives
create jobs, not buy back stock
dismantle and cannibalize enterprises

sell them off, send the wealth to the top
raise prices claiming crises
supply chain holdups
extra costs, just passing it along
yes, mendacity in spades
