First Morning Ride Since The Equinox

First Morning Ride Since The Equinox

Rode out under a bright sky
The blue less intense at the horizons
Occasional wispy white clouds
Painting the dome overhead

Tucson’s surrounding mountain fortresses
Silhouettes in the horizon’s mists

Amarillo exploding across
The Tucson basin
Palo Verde, Brittlebush, Desert Marigolds
And Greasewood

The occasional crimson counterpoint of
Thorny Bougainvillea climbing fences and walls

The dry, sandy water course in the riverbed
Sported tracks of horses, humans
And ATV’s along it roughly north-shouth route
No still water there today

Only a few riders, joggers, and walkers
A couple of them waking their dogs

Spent two hours in the morning sun
Then home, resting, Catrike put away
Planning the rest of my day
Another Tucson Sunday
