No Do-overs

some old people complain
about where they ended
in their journeys around Sol

saying, if they had it to do over
they’d choose different directions
make better decisions; but I beg to differ

all things being equal (same conditions),
everyone does the best they can, given their
knowledge and circumstance-compulsions

no matter their committed determination
their lives would proceed just as they had
during their last go-round – disappointing

I know…
‘free-will’: not all it’s cracked up to be
and sorry, no do-overs
