This abstract is based on the watercolor below. They were done about a day apart. That’s just how my mind works… take something fairly ordinary and deconstruct it, make something ‘different’ out of it…
Youth – A Distant Memory
When very young
Got lost and cold
Spanked for running
Out in the road
Escaped from
Rope-tied pants
By taking them off
Lived by the radio
The Shadow Knows
SciFi movies and
Then TV black and white
Then came color
78’s became 45’s and 33’s,
Went from HiFi to Stereo
Then 8 track and cassette
Then MP3’s
Dog house
An early get-a-way
Basement sanctuary
Skipping school
First grade delinquent
Caught and rectified
Frequent bickering
Especially sib #2.
Two-wheel bike lessons
Completed with
Cinders dug from
Elbows and knees
Vision corrected by
The age of three.

Your nostalgic poem was a treat. And I like both paintings. Each have their own charm.
