A Season In Hell – Rimbaud and the Cruisers

Santa Cruz Sunset Begonia –LE – Watercolor on multimedia paper 9×12″

My memory of Rimbaud was roused by a poem I read by one of the poets I’m following here in this forum recently (last couple of days). The poet refers to him in a line or two; and sorry, but I don’t remember which poem or poet… I do remember liking the poem. And when I thought about Rimbaud, I also thought about a movie from the 80s where one of his works was an underlying theme or reference of the movie, Eddie and the Cruisers. The following is the result of that memory jog. And thanks for that…; -)

A Season In Hell Rimbaud and the Cruisers

poetry class
Arthur Rimbaud
end of 19th century
libertine
surreal-prequel
Intellectual-suicide?
literary-suicide?
or sour-grapes
but really
eventually
cancer

A Season In Hell
a rebuke perhaps
of Dante
or Milton or
the establishment
at large
can’t fault that

Eddie and the Cruisers
1980s rock n roll
Surreal-sequel
A Season In Hell
the theme
artistic-suicide?
musical-suicide?
or sour grapes
perhaps a rebuke
of the music
establishment
or our culture
at large
can’t fault that
