Depression

Depression seems to be a major topic on several of the blogs I’ve been reading recently. I’ve struggled with it several times over my long life. I believe that it is a normal part of human existence, and the following is my current perspective on the condition, based on my personal experience with it.

Depression

feelings of inadequacy
depression
modern epidemics
y o u
haven’t worked hard
enough as hard
as ancestors or
modern rolemodels
the system’s
propaganda
hard-won truths
from a long life

Inadequacy conditioned
into us all by social
gatekeepers socalled
‘leaders’
consumerism
needs depressed
inadequacy fuel
commerce in things
we don’t need and
can’t afford keep us
trying to buy our way
to happiness

tool of the ruling
classes since antiquity
to justify their tyranny
of the masses
the science of Bearnaise
applied to creating
unnecessary ‘needs’
wants and desires
fueling greed the
the mantra of modern
global capitalism
economic empire

b u t

we live on
wave-continuums
between poles
emotional, physical,
and spiritual and
another between
narcissism and altruism
the more depressed
and insecure the
closer to the narcissistic
pole we drift
depression is a normal
ocasional mental/physical state
a problem when debilitating
an opportunity for
medical industrial
complexes generating
unconscionable profits
with analyses and drugs

one s o l u t i o n

let down your walls
move on continuum
toward altruism even
when Murphy seems
in complete control
yes, people disappoint
and betray but
that all passes, too
an old Zen concept
to keep perspective
everything is nothing

indecision also natural
especially for the
multi-talented
so, live in the
present what’s
done is done
observe with great
amusement people’s
turmoil over things
for which they have
little (no) control
have a propensity
to levity

  1. I enjoyed you take on depression and hit many points i also agree on with you like:
    “we don’t need and
    can’t afford keep us
    trying to buy our way
    to happiness”
In this modern world, it’s too easy to find out stuff, material possessions are not going to soothe your soul.
