Back in late 1969 through 1971, I played with archery for a while at LCCC, the jr college I was attending. Hadn’t thought about it until recently, when my partner’s son, who lives next door to us, constructed an archery range in our mutual backyard. So, I purchased a 40lb, recurve bow, 12 arrows, armguard, and finger tabs on eBay. Since then, I’ve been shooting 4 strings of arrows several times a week. The following illustrates this experience.
Archery
40lb recurve bow
4 strings
11 arrows each
44 pulls
sinews stretch
with each
knock arrow
bring loaded bow
down toward the
target and mind
become one
exhale with release
bolt bounces off
backstop… but close
try again and again
10 bolts in 10 inch
diameter cluster better
luck next string
William Tell?
ha ha; if so
then my son
is dead
missed the apple
pinned his head
all kidding aside
good exercise
hands and eyes
coordinate
an ancient art for
modern times

Better than I was ever able to do. My first husband and our son both hunted deer with a compound bow. I target practiced with them, but was lucky to hit the target.

My partner’s son uses a compound bow and is very good with it. His arrow spread at the same distance is about 3″. I don’t hunt, as I’m vegan. But I do like the exercise of pulling the bow. Again, thanks for reading and commenting…; -)

I never hunted, but in the past, have prepared and eaten lots of wild game. I’m not a vegan, but anymore, eat so little meat I’m close to it.

It took me a long time to get there. Started by giving up eating any and all mamals in the mid ’70s. Had read many articles tying meat consumption to my terrible alergy and synus problems. It really helped, improved my health by at least 75%, so I maintained that lifestyle into the last decade. Went completely vegan around the first of the year. I’ve lost 10lbs since then, am finally at a ‘normal’ BMI of 24, and have much more energy, alertness, and just plain feel good all over…; -)

I have niece who has been doing Keto for quite a few years. She lost around 40 or 50 pounds, back to a normal weight, and says she feels better than she has in many years. To each his own, I guess. 🤷♀️
