Anne Quits Penton
We had moved to an apartment building across the street from the duplex half we rented from Dave and closer to the corner of Hampshire Rd and Euclid Heights BLVD.
Anne had been having problems at Penton, where she had been working since shortly after we met. She was being harassed by her immediate supervisor and being overlooked for promotions. So, the problems were sexism, patriarchy, and harassment. So, I told her to quit and find something to do from home until she found what she really wanted to do. We would make it work.
Her dream had been to work as a museum curator … one of her degree majors was Art History. She even applied for that position at the Salvador Dali Museum when it was in Cleveland. But, she ended up working as a ‘Stinger’ for a couple of the local weekly newspapers and as an editor for Kaleidoscope Magazine, a publication for artists and writers.

Seldom do we get our dream job, even if well qualified. I suppose we’re lucky if we are half-ass satisfied.

I’ve frequently been ‘satisfied’, but usually only after I’ve lowered my expectations…; -)

I worked 23 years at the last job I had before retiring, and I was pretty well satisfied until the last three or four years. I retired a little early because I grew to hate it. The company changed, had me and others doing the job that had once been done by three people. A lot of us burned out.
