My Residence in Kent, OH
Toward the end of my time in Kent, Kristen and her family came to visit me. That included her husband, Jerry, and her two sons, Jerid and Colin (my grandchildren), who were a year or two younger than my twins, Dylan and Caitlin (their aunt and uncle) We had a good visit, only spoiled by Jerry’s car being towed by the apartment management because he was parked in a space next to mine, but which was not my space, even though it was not assigned to any other appartment. We got the car back, but not cheaply… That and other problems, not the worst of which was the management company raising my rent every year by 15-20%, caused me to start looking for a new place to live. But that’s a few months out from their visit.
My three youngest spent most weekends there with me. There was a swimming pool that we used in the summer, and a nice patio through the sliding doors of my living room/office that we used in all seasons. We also went for frequent walks in Towner’s Woods, just north of Kent, and also around Twin Lakes. Our favorite breakfast spot was Mike’s, which had a life-size Star Wars X-wing sitting just outside the restaurant entrance. We had breakfast there a couple of times a month.
I also adopted a cat while living in Kent. Her name was Smokey, and she was… smokey-gray with yellow eyes. I shortened her name to Mokie. She used to love to nap under my go-board, whose underside was only 6″ off the floor … so a nice safe space for a kitty. She lived with me until she gave up the ghost at the ripe old age of 19… old for a cat.

19 is a blessed age for a cat.
