Another reprised poem from the past year of this blog
When the Sun Goes Down
when the sun goes down
time to loose the sound
let the music roll
from windows and stages
all over town
dance in moonlit courtyards
sylvan groves and bars
bodies sway in sync
communing deep in
Luna’s silvery sight
rhythmic enchantment
enfold us till all
passions are spent
and sunrise dazzles
our red-rimmed eyes

I’ve always loved to dance, but both husbands didn’t. Occasionally, 1st husband and I went to clubs with friends and I danced with other men. 2nd husband wouldn’t even dance with me at home, let alone go anywhere to do it. Most of my dancing was done in bars when I was underage.

I used to dance… when I was younger, not so much anymore. I always danced when Lady and the Tramps were on stage, having arrived with ‘Lady’ (Lind Lane). And I always liked the slow dances best…; -)

I take it Lind was Lady of Lady and the Tramps. You dated her?

Actually, It was Linda (typo). And yes, she was ‘Lady’. She was a couple of years older than me but used to give me a ride out to some of her gigs. We didn’t ‘date’… she thought I was too young for her… I didn’t agree with her assessment, but then I’ve pretty much let the women in my life have complete control of whatever relationship we had… Possibly a bad mistake on my part…; -)~

Speaking as a friend AND a woman, maybe it was a mistake. Even in this so-called enlightened era, women may say otherwise, but they don’t want to “rule the roost”. Yes, they want to be treated with respect, but they want a man who demands respect in return.

Thanks for the tip, but I came to that conclusion some years ago. I’ve gotten pretty demanding in my old age… at least compared to how I was for most of my adult life…😊

I wouldn’t call myself demanding, but I am set in my ways. And fairly opinionated. I am who I am and, unlike when I was a young woman, don’t try to change to accommodate anyone.

Perhaps ‘demanding’ was not the right word, more like determined… Accommodation has its place in the scheme of things if it serves your long-term interests, but it’s certainly not necessary for seniors with our life experience… we’ve earned our opinions, preferred lifestyles, and such… as much as anyone, regardless of their (in-their-own-minds) status…; -)
